16 Bit Link

"HEEYAH" -Link

That's the actual quote from the game. True story. So my friend saw my other Link last night and told me that there were better ones out there from that game. I agreed and immediately disassembled the first one to make this one. I have to say, to get an actual recognizable character from such pixelated image is quite impressive to me and makes me appreciate my early Nintendo gaming experiences even more.

16 Bit Hyrulian Justice

While playing Super Mario RPG, I had a sudden yearning to play Zelda: A Link to the Past, which was the first  Zelda game I ever beat on my own. Sadly, I do not have either my Gameboy advanced copy or my Super Nintendo lying around, and since cash is tight, I did not want to throw some more Wii points towards Nintendo. I did the next best thing and made a little LEGO mosaic of Link in his standing pose with the Hyrulian Shield.

While this is an extremely simple build, I am quite satisfied with how it turned out. The hardest part was actually trying to blow out the sprite art I found on the internet to the point where I could determine the individual pixels. From there it was just a matter of placing the right colored blocks in the right spot. These are incredibly simple but I love the result

Also I gave my Minecraft chicken some pose-able wings. Tada! Also super simple but it makes it more Minecraft like.

Sleep Tight, Forever

I'm pretty sure the sleepy head minifigure is my unofficial favorite. I'm not sure why I love it so much, but I believe it might have something to do with the fact that his facial expression is one that is not found on any other minifigure, and that it depicts an activity that is most definitely not active or interesting (sleeping.)

Regardless of favorites, this scene depicts my dreamer about to feasted on by a nightmare. The room itself (which I do not have a good picture of) is pretty good itself, but the main centerpiece is definitely the nightmare about to devour our dreamer.

I included this shot just to give a better viewing of the room itself and the construction of the hand. I considered using a Bionicle/Hero Factory claw for the hand, but I liked being able to pose the fingers around the figure of the sleeping character.

Cottontail Teemo Waits In Ambush

"Just one more step and then the darts fly."

I play a lot of League of Legends and I've always wanted to do a creation that honors it. I don't play Teemo or Pantheon, but I find both of them insanely annoying so I've pit them against each other. I also recently purchased the Bunny Suit Guy from Series 7 of LEGO's Collectible Minifigure line and it just screams Cottontail Teemo. Here Teemo waits in a bush to immediately spam annoying darts to Pantheon's face.

"I hate eggs! PANTHEON SMASH!"

And here is Pantheon ready to pop an egg, immediately causing the player to curse loudly and threaten bodily harm against Teemo because those things are annoying.

No Funny Caption

Finally, a shot of the overall creation. It's relatively simplistic, but I think it captures the feel of LoL.

Sleeping Beauty

Just a little something I came up with when I was bored between writing my final papers. I got the idea of a person sleeping in a grave, perhaps dead or perhaps not. Either way, the intent was to convey a sense of peace and serenity that our sleeper here has definitely achieved.

This is just an added shot that I thought I would include so people could get a better view of the build as a whole. It's very simplistic, but it definitely conveys the message that I wanted to get at.

How Every Trip To The Hospital Seems To Me

"...and I jab this straight into your heart and then the real work begins..."

This Is Me Playing Arkham City

"I'M THE GODDAMN BATMAN"

Just something I whipped up after playing Batman: Arkham Asylum for a few hours. Not nearly as dark as the scenery in the game, but building in black/dark grey/grey can get boring and is so uninspiring.

Work In Progress: Minecraft Mooshroom

"Moooo....shroom"

The slew of Minecraft MOCs continue. Here is the beginning of a full sized Mooshroom from Minecraft. While I know that the models are relatively simplistic to make, it is still quite an enjoyable feat to have the finished product right in front of you, not matter how simplistic. I just hope I have enough red bricks to complete the build.

One interesting thing to note is that I had no clue that the Mooshroom's ears looked like antennae before I started. When examining the original picture I was a bit confused by the whole grey blocks sticking out of its head. I assure you, that's in the original model.

As an added bonus, here's a pencil that has been sharpened down. It's random but I like it.

Frankenstein's Monster

"Igor, back up the car and bring the jumper cables because tonight, we create LIFE!"

Minecraft Creeper Creeps Out Steve

"That's a nice everything you have there...would be a shame if anything were to happen to it."

It's just a mini Creeper face I built. While it's not quite as detailed as I would like it to be, it is a pretty accurate representation of a Creeper from Minecraft. I've got a bigger version of it as well that I will post later. Eventually I will attempt a full size model of the Creeper with body legs and everything. The only problem I expect is that he explodes constantly. It is his nature and I know the risks, but I am willing to try and work around the holes in the wall and floor this will cause.

"Hi"

This is my face of "The Player," or Steve as Notch calls him. According to the Minecraft Wiki, Steve should have purple eyes, but they seem to be far more blue than they are purple, almost like a mix between the two. The purple blocks that LEGO has out is far too purple to accurately represent his eyes, so I went with the standard blue.

Minecraft Chicken

Just a little something I have been working on. I managed to Get him finished in an hour and I think he turned out great. I was quite surprised that I could get the whole thing to stand up on what is essentially 3 studs touching the table on each foot. He doesn't even wobble when I bump him. LEGO physics are baffling to say the least. Now the only problem I have to worry about is whenever I build a Minecraft that my poor chicken doesn't get turned into feathers and poultry. Curse you cats!

"Please don't eat me."
